The Department of Chemistry at Northern Michigan University is looking for an individual who will help lead our first-year chemistry efforts. Priority will be given to the individual with a background in chemistry education. The initial appointment can be either at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending on experience and qualifications. This is a campus-based, tenure-track position.
Teaching assignments will primarily include first-year courses for STEM majors, but may also include other courses dependent on departmental needs or candidate's expertise. The department is particularly interested in candidates who would be interested in helping out with sophomore-level organic offerings or upper-level biochemistry offerings as needed. While teaching is considered the primary responsibility for full-time faculty at Northern Michigan University, expectations also include establishing a research program that would actively involve undergraduates and appropriate levels of departmental and university service.
The Department of Chemistry has twenty-one full-time faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in ACS-certified chemistry, biochemistry, forensic biochemistry, and medicinal plant chemistry. Further information about the department can be found at http://www.nmu.edu/chemistry
