The Department of Chemistry seeks multiple Laboratory Managers (to be appointed at the Associate or more senior Professional Specialist rank) to oversee active research laboratories that focus on the fields of organic synthesis and catalysis. The successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field, preferably with one or more years of additional research experience.

The Lab Manager's responsibilities will include but are not limited to managing the laboratory equipment and facilities, conducting research, overseeing the ordering of supplies and equipment, supervising researchers, acting as the lab safety officer, and interacting with the departmental administration.

The Lab Manager will also manage spending on sponsored grants and unrestricted research funding, assist with the development of proposals and budgets, and coordinate grant submissions. Essential Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have working knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials; the ability to work independently within a team environment; and have excellent organizational, record-keeping, and verbal and written communication skills. In addition, candidates must be self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to supervise others. Candidates should possess excellent skills in finding novel approaches to cost savings.
