The Department of Chemistry at Bowling Green State University invites applications for a renewable, full-time, nontenure track Teaching Assistant Professor position with a start date of August 2024.

Information about the Program and University

The Department of Chemistry is located within the College of Arts and Sciences. The College strives to foster and sustain an engaging culture of discovery, creativity, teaching, learning, and collaboration, enriched by a diversity of experiences and perspectives. We are especially interested in recruiting candidates who can contribute, through their teaching, scholarly/creative work, and/or service, to our efforts to meet the challenge of achieving inclusive excellence in our academic community. The Department of Chemistry is one of 17 academic units in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department currently has 17 full-time faculty members and offers an American Chemical Society approved Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.  Specializations in Biochemistry and Forensic Chemistry are available. A vibrant and interdisciplinary doctoral program in Photochemical Sciences is overseen by the Center for Photochemical Sciences.

Essential Functions

The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach lecture and lab sections in both the General Chemistry sequence and the one-semester survey Organic Chemistry course for non-majors. Contributions of service at the department, college, and university levels are also expected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Chemistry, or a closely related discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Photochemical Sciences, etc.).
  • Established background of documented effective teaching of college level chemistry classes as an instructor of record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching an advanced instructional lab such as organic or analytical chemistry.
