The University of Illinois Chicago’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Chemistry who will also serve as Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies to oversee the curriculum and instructor training for gateway and introductory Chemistry courses starting August 2024. The primary duties of this position include leading reform efforts to adopt evidence-based best practices in gateway chemistry courses, coordinating the team of introductory chemistry instructors, and teaching introductory chemistry courses. The ideal candidate should be firmly committed to enhancing excellence in teaching gateway chemistry courses, actively participate in university and department’s continuous initiatives to improve undergraduate outcomes in STEM education, and promote equity and inclusive teaching strategies in the chemistry program. It is essential that the candidate possesses knowledge of education research findings related to instructing and supporting the success of a highly diverse and first-generation undergraduate student population and is motivated to actively apply these findings to curricular design and teaching practices.
