Job Details

The Department of Chemistry at the University of South Alabama invites applications for two full-time (9 month), faculty positions to begin August 15, 2024.  The first position is a tenure-track Assistant Professor position.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level and develop a peer-reviewed research program, involving undergraduate students with a goal of external support and funding. No firm restrictions are placed on the candidates’ area of Chemistry research, but candidates who are qualified to teach Physical or Inorganic Chemistry are preferred.  This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely-related discipline. Expectations for the tenure-track position include teaching, peer-reviewed research, service, and student advising. The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the United States.

The second position is a non-tenure-track instructional position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor of Instruction level.  Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the General Chemistry curriculum, with preference given to candidates who can also teach Physical, Inorganic, or Biochemistry.  This position requires a Master’s degree in Chemistry or closely-related discipline for consideration for the rank of Instructor or a Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely-related discipline for consideration for the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction. Expectations for the non-tenure-track instructional position include teaching, pedagogical development, service, and student advising. The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the United States.

Review of applications will begin on February 29, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.
