Process Development Chemist

The Process Development Chemist position at Lacamas Laboratories will involve a multidisciplinary approach to scale-up and manufacture of key intermediates for the Department of Defense.  Lacamas Laboratories has received an $86 million grant to develop novel and efficient routes the desired compounds. The ideal candidate will work toward satisfying the supply of those key compounds with a high level of independence and proficiency.

Duties as a process chemist

  • Search the literature for previous work in the chosen area.
  • Develop chemistry with an aim for high through-put, safe, economic processes.
  • Execute laboratory scale synthetic operations and perform, process troubleshooting.
  • Optimize processes developed by chemist or from the literature.
  • Support plant/production campaigns
  • Independently set up, monitor and run chemical reactions
  • Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum M.S. degree with 8+ years of industrial experience; Ph. D. with 5+ years of industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of classic synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Skilled at transferring processes to plant/engineering for scale up to ton batch size.
  • Strong background in organic synthesis and route scouting/selection.
  • Experience with multistep organic synthesis.
  • Experience with literature searching.
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Must be legally allowed to work in the USA; must be a US citizen or have a green card
