The Department of Medicinal Chemistry invites you to apply for a full-time, 12-month, term teaching and research faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will support the professional Pharm.D., M.S./Ph.D., and other teaching programs at the School of Pharmacy, which ranks among the top 20 colleges of pharmacy in the nation. Applicants must possess the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, computational chemistry, biochemistry or other related disciplines and must have post-doctoral or advanced training experience in design, discovery and development of drugs for the treatment of the cardiovascular, cancer, neurological and/or infectious diseases.


The candidate will join other educators and scientists in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. Job responsibilities will primarily include classroom instruction to Pharm.D., M.S., Ph.D. and others students based on the needs of the Department to meet the teaching mission of the School. Contributions to the peer-reviewed literature and other scholarly activities, not excluding extramurally funded research, will be encouraged. Demonstrated experience working in a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment and a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required. The position will include service to the department, school, and community. Candidates with an established record of teaching, scholarly accomplishments and service experience are highly encouraged to apply. July 2024 is the preferred start date for this position, although exceptions may be made for outstanding candidates.
