The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of West Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2024. The University of West Georgia is a regional, comprehensive university with a diverse student body. This position will be a joint appointment between the Chemistry and Physics programs to complement joint initiatives in materials science. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the development of materials research facilities and educational programs. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Physics, or a closely related discipline and research experience in the field of materials science. The successful candidate is expected to develop an undergraduate-led, externally-funded research program with an emphasis on materials science. The candidate will teach introductory undergraduate courses in either Chemistry or Physics and upper-level undergraduate courses in materials science that cater to a combination of Chemistry and Physics majors. Preference will be given to candidates that can teach courses in both disciplines. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, research plan, copy of transcripts, and the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of three references. Review of applications will be ongoing until the position is filled.
