Job Details

The Institute of Emerging Technology at Pittsburg State University is searching for multiple Junior/Senior level Scientist positions in various specialized areas. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with outstanding research, publications, manuscripts, and grant writing skills. The research scientist should be able to teach BS and MS-level relevant courses as needed; write reports/technical papers based on results; and write proposals for external funding. 

 

Semiconductors/Electroactive Materials: The primary function of the Research Scientist is the synthesis of semiconducting materials, electroactive materials, 2D nanomaterials, and morphologically controlled semiconducting materials. Duties include processing and application of electroactive materials and semiconductors; and performing all the synthesis, testing, and characterizations of the prepared samples.

 

Organic Chemistry: The research scientist will participate in the research projects currently going on in this division, including but not limited to the synthesis of new organic materials, monomers, macromolecules, and polymers for various applications. The candidate should be performing all the synthesis, testing, and characterizations of the prepared samples.

 

Plastics/Polymers Recycling: The research scientist will participate in research projects such as mechanical/chemical/bio recycling of polymers and plastics, testing and remanufacturing of recycled materials, and their value-added applications.

 

Polymer Science: The research scientist will participate in the research projects currently going on in this division, including but not limited to the synthesis of new organic materials, monomers, and polymers for various applications. The candidate should be performing all the synthesis, testing, and characterizations of the prepared samples.

The Chemistry Department at PSU currently consists of 9 faculty members that are active in research with expertise ranging from Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical chemistry, and Polymer chemistry. The Chemistry department is also affiliated with the Kansas Polymer Research Center, a nationally known facility for conducting state of the art bio-based polymer research. The department of chemistry is ACS certified and grants Bachelor’s degree with six major emphases including the professional, ACS approved emphasis. The department of chemistry also has a master’s program that usually has on the average of 10 Master students.
