Job Details

The Chemistry Department at Dickinson College seeks applicants for a visiting faculty position starting August 2024 in the area of organic chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, and/or biologically-relevant chemistry. We are most interested in candidates with the ability to teach courses in organic chemistry and biochemistry. Candidates should have a PhD in chemistry or a closely related field, and those with interdisciplinary expertise are of particular interest. Faculty at Dickinson teach a five-course load, and this position would include a senior seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise and organic and/or biochemistry lecture and/or labs. Candidates are encouraged to perform research in dedicated laboratory space that engages our talented undergraduate students. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidates.

Dickinson College is a highly selective four-year, independent liberal arts college with 2300 students. It is located 20 minutes west of Harrisburg and is a two-hour drive from Baltimore, Washington DC and Philadelphia. The College is committed to building a representative and diverse faculty, administrative staff, and student body. We encourage applications from all qualified persons.

Interested candidates should apply for this position electronically via https://jobs.dickinson.edu. Candidates should submit via QUEST (online application system) at https://jobs.dickinson.edu; please include a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement on diversity and inclusivity, graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and three letters of reference. At least one letter should address the candidate’s experience or potential for teaching at the undergraduate level. Candidates who intend to pursue research with students should include their intentions in their cover letter and provide a summary of their research interests.
