Job Details
A Postdoctoral Associate position in synthetic medicinal chemistry is immediately open in the Wang group (https://drugdesign.umn.edu/wang-zq-group) at the Center for Drug Design, College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will be working on NIH-funded antiviral small molecule drug discovery projects, and will have the opportunity to learn other aspects of drug discovery.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for the preparation of small molecule inhibitors against viral proteins. Conduct molecular modeling. Properly collect, interpret, manage, and present research data. Must be able to write manuscripts. Participate in research discussion with members of the research team in a highly collaborative research environment. All applicants must have a PhD in synthetic organic / medicinal chemistry, with extensive experience in organic synthesis. Skills in molecular modeling for structure and ligand-based small molecule inhibitor design are preferred, but not required as training will be provided.
