The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry, beginning August 2025. This position is being filled as part of our Life at the Molecular and Cellular Scale cluster hire initiative. Candidates will be part of a five-member cluster with several specific missions to build community, collaboration, and new student opportunities between the Chemistry/Biochemistry and Biology departments and will be offered additional support and professional development opportunities to advance this mission. Teaching responsibilities will include organic chemistry lecture and laboratory as well as opportunities to teach electives, biochemistry laboratories, and contribute to the College general curriculum. Successful candidates are expected to establish and maintain an exceptional research program involving undergraduates and to contribute to service at the departmental and college levels. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. Priority will be given to candidates with professional experience in the areas of organic chemistry or bioorganic chemistry, with additional biochemistry training and/or a bioorganic research program preferred.
