Job Details
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking two full-time tenure-track faculty members, one in Organic Chemistry (540043) and one in Biochemistry (540021), both at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Both successful candidates are expected to mentor and teach a diverse student population. The successful candidates are expected to initiate and sustain an active research program involving undergraduate and master’s students. New faculty receive start-up funds, research lab space, and a reduced instructional workload over their first three years to establish a research program. The position also requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university.
The successful Organic Chemistry candidate will teach: a) introductory and general chemistry at the undergraduate level; and b) organic chemistry and special topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This individual will have research interests in synthetic methodology, organic materials chemistry, computational organic chemistry, and/or physical organic chemistry.
The successful Biochemistry candidate will teach: a) biochemistry and related special topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and b) introductory and general chemistry at the undergraduate level. This individual’s research expertise and planned research program will diversify the Biochemistry research areas currently represented in the Department.
