Assistant Professor, Tenure Track - Department of Chemistry, Case Western Reserve University
The Department of Chemistry at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Chemistry. The successful candidate will establish innovative research programs in computational and theoretical chemistry. Research programs with a focus on applications in chemical biology, drug discovery, materials discovery, and/or energy conversion and storage, and that involve the use or development of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) are especially encouraged. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally visible research program supported by extramural funding, teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses, and be committed to diversity and inclusion. The normal teaching load for faculty with active research programs is one course per semester plus ancillary duties.
The ideal candidate and affiliated research program will be enhanced by collaborations with major strategic research thrusts in the department: materials discovery, energy conversion and storage, and chemical biology. In addition, prospective candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively with faculty at the university level in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Medicine, and the School of Engineering. Intellectual adjacencies across campus and at nearby Ohio research institutions will afford outstanding opportunities to build collaborative research programs.
Applications may be submitted via Interfolio. The expected starting date is July 1, 2025. A Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, or a related field is required. To be considered, (1) a letter of application, (2) CV, (3) a summary of research plans (five pages; if special equipment or needs are required, please describe), (4) a summary of teaching experience and teaching statement (two pages max), (5) three confidential letters of reference, and (6) a detailed list of current and pending funding if any should be submitted via Interfolio by September 18, 2024.
