Assistant Professor in Computational Chemistry

The Chemistry Department at the University of Rhode Island (URI) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Computational Chemistry, broadly defined, beginning in the fall of 2025. Among other qualifications, applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field, postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience, and a demonstrated record of scholarly achievement.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate chemistry courses; advise undergraduate and graduate students toward B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees; conduct independent and collaborative research with both undergraduate and graduate students; secure external funding to support independent research activities; author peer-reviewed publications with undergraduate and graduate student co-authors; and be active in service at the levels of the Department, College, and University.

The Chemistry Department offers programs leading to B.S., B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The Chemistry Department moved into the newly built Beaupre Center in 2016, a 135,000 sq. foot modern facility for teaching and collaborative research. This building houses extensive new instrumentation in a shared user facility, where researchers have access to high field NMR, GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR, HPLC, and fluorimetry, in addition to materials characterization instrumentation.
