Job Details

Francis Marion University and the Department of Chemistry invite applications for a full-time, non-tenure track instructor/assistant professor position, renewable at the discretion of the University for up to two additional years. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Teaching general chemistry courses for chemistry majors and non-majors.
  • Teaching upper-level chemistry courses in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry as needed.  
  • Providing academic advising for students during registration.
  • Conducting additional academic and professional services as needed by the department.

This position is a standard nine-month contract (August-May) with the opportunity to teach additional courses during the summer.

FMU Requirements: An earned masters or doctorate in organic chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is preferred. Some level of teaching experience is expected.

**Start date of January 6, 2025, is preferred, however, a fall start date may be negotiated.
