The Department of Chemistry at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in Biochemistry. Appointment will begin August 10, 2025. We are interested in individuals with research and teaching expertise in Biochemistry, broadly defined, but exceptional applicants from other areas in chemistry that can contribute to the Neuroscience program will be considered.
Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. The applicant is expected to establish and maintain a vibrant, externally funded research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body. The Department of Chemistry is committed to building and supporting a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students and is seeking excellent individuals that can contribute to this mission. The department has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in addition to conducting exciting, high-impact scholarly work with undergraduate collaborators. Moreover, the Department of Chemistry administers a M.S. program of approximately 10 students, providing the ability to mentor graduate students if desired.
Teaching expectation is 1 lecture and 1 laboratory course each semester. Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach compelling courses in Biochemistry and other lecture and seminar-style courses, and to contribute to both the general education (COLL) and Neuroscience curricula.
