Nine-month, full time, tenure-track Assistant professor position. Primary teaching will occur in Chemistry.

The Chemistry Department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning in Fall 2025; a PhD is required. A degree in physical chemistry is preferred, but we will also consider applicants with experience in related areas of chemistry. The department encourages active learning and inclusive pedagogy in our classroom and laboratory course work. Teaching responsibilities are the equivalent of three in-person courses on-campus each semester. These courses will include classes and labs in physical chemistry (Physical Chemistry I, Physical Chemistry II) and supporting either general or organic chemistry courses. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to special topics courses, Senior Seminar for majors, or the liberal arts curriculum of the institution including General Education, writing, and travel abroad.

Peer-reviewed publishable research that engages undergraduate students is expected along with actively engaging in College and University-level service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 3:3 teaching load, with reassigned time as appropriate for administrative work
  • Sustain an active program of scholarly research in the area(s) of your expertise that produces peer-reviewed publications
  • Mentor undergraduate student research through independent study, Honor Theses, and/or Student Opportunities for Academic Research (SOAR) projects;
  • Engage the scientific community beyond Moravian University
  • Contribute to the University's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
  • Actively participate in service to the University through academic advising, committee membership, and/or mentorship of student clubs and organizations.

  • Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry or a related area
  • Demonstrable potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Demonstrable potential for excellence in scholarship
