Job Description:

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department at Iona University invites applications for a full-time Clinical Lecturer and General Chemistry Coordinator starting in Fall 2025 (or January 2025 if desired). Expectations for this position are to teach, develop, and coordinate general chemistry courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate courses, including implementation of current pedagogy and strategies for student success, as well as the necessary organizational and leadership skills to coordinate a team of instructors for general chemistry. The ability to provide research opportunities for undergraduate students is a plus.

Responsibilities include: 

  • teaching general chemistry courses for majors and non-majors
  • coordinating content and instructors across multiple course sections of general chemistry
  • ongoing curriculum development for general chemistry lecture and lab
  • teaching other courses that match the successful candidate's interests and skills, according to departmental needs
  • service to the department and academic community

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: Ph.D. in chemistry or related area, at least 2 semesters of experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses, excellent organizational skills, and demonstrated commitment to teaching improvement and excellence. Relevant postdoctoral, academic, or industrial experience is a plus.
