The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for two tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in Chemical Engineering, with the earliest start date of September 1, 2025.

The CBE Department is undergoing major expansion that will nearly triple its size from 2016 to 2026 in a newly renovated, modern laboratory space at the heart of Brooklyn. The Department presently seeks two additional colleagues to join in the following multidisciplinary initiatives:

The Sustainable Engineering Initiative (SEI) seeks to establish a leading ecosystem centered on education, research, and translation of technologies to Avoid, Mitigate, Remediate, and Adapt to climate change and environmental challenges. Candidates applying to the SEI position are expected to establish research programs with focus on sustainable engineering. Our department seeks candidates for this position at any rank, from Assistant to Full Professor, with rank to be determined by experience of the candidate. The following research areas are strongly encouraged:

  • Computational chemical engineering with a focus on approaches that span multiple length and time scales, including density functional theory and molecular dynamics. Experimental chemical engineering with a focus on polymer sustainability or separations for chemical manufacturing, water purification, resource recovery from waste streams, or critical minerals production or recycling.

The NanoBioX Initiative is a research and development engine for disruptive innovations powered by combining novel advances in nanofabrication, nanoelectronics, data science and biotechnology to solve pressing societal challenges in precision medicine and neurotechnologies. Our department seeks candidates for this position at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level.  Candidates applying to the NanoBioX position are expected to establish research programs with focus on molecular and nanoscale approaches to solving medical or biotechnological challenges within, or close to, following areas: Diagnostic and monitoring devices including wearable and implantable technologies Nanotechnologies for cell reprogramming  Drug delivery, and design of composite and other non-living biomaterials Ability to collaborate with colleagues facilitating translation of research concepts and prototype designs is highly desirable.
