The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (www.sc.edu/chemistry) at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for 9-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the areas of (1) Analytical/Environmental Chemistry, (2) Biochemistry, and (3) Inorganic Chemistry to begin August 16, 2025. Successful candidates are expected to develop a cutting-edge, externally-funded research program and to strive for excellence in teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level courses.
For the Analytical/Environmental Chemistry position, broad areas of expertise in analytical/environmental chemistry with experience in aquatic systems are welcome. While we are seeking to hire an Assistant Professor, candidates at all levels are welcome to apply. The minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, or a closely related field, with a focus on aquatic systems by the start date of employment. Expertise in neurochemistry, neurogenetics, neurotherapeutics, or genomics/transcriptomics/proteomics in neuroscience is essential. For the Inorganic Chemistry position, we are seeking exceptional applicants with a strong research background in inorganic chemistry (broadly defined) and/or materials science to join our department. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or closely related field by the start date of employment.
