The University of South Dakota (USD) Department of Chemistry seeks to fill multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank starting Fall 2025. Applications will be accepted from candidates with background and research interests in any area of chemistry. Faculty are expected to develop a creative and innovative research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, implement excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and contribute service to the department, institution, and profession. USD is the public liberal arts institution in South Dakota and trains the next generation of leaders in a wide range of disciplines. The School of Medicine and high performance computing facility on campus, as well as excellent research instrumentation in the department contribute to a strong research culture in the Department of Chemistry. USD Chemistry leads an NSF:REU site, is a leader in undergraduate research, and regularly mentors excellent scholars such as Goldwater and Truman Scholars. The department of chemistry supports high profile research and is a partner institute within a newly funded NSF:ERC grant. Candidates must hold a PhD in Chemistry or closely related field and have research experience at the postdoctoral level. The area of specialization is open, but the department especially encourages applications with experience in one or more of the following areas: experimental physical chemistry, computational chemistry, and biochemistry. Review of applicants will begin October 22 and continue until filled. Applicants must apply at https://yourfuture.sdbor.edu/postings/40368 including a cover letter outlining their qualifications and potential fit with USD, graduate transcript, teaching philosophy, research plan statement (up to 3 pages per plan), CV, and contact information of three professional references.
