GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Job Description:
The Chemistry and Food Science Department invites applicants with a specialization in Biochemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, or related discipline for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning 01 September 2025. The successful applicant is able to teach a two-semester Biochemistry sequence designed for Biochemistry majors and minors. Additional responsibilities may include teaching a one-semester Biochemistry course for nutrition and dietetic majors, general chemistry for majors and non-majors, or another course in a related field.
The successful candidate is expected to establish a research program involving undergraduates in our Chemical Research courses. We seek an enthusiastic, committed teacher-scholar with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching that will engage students in our liberal arts setting. Applicants must have demonstrated ability to connect with and support first-generation students and students from groups historically under-served in STEM; and a strong commitment to undergraduate education with the ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty. Additional responsibilities include student advising, curriculum development, service to the University and Department, continuing professional development, and scholarship.
The successful candidate for this position may be eligible for participation in Framingham State University's five-year National Science Foundation (NSF) Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) grant program. This program seeks to increase success in STEM academic careers for faculty who are historically underrepresented minorities, particularly African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. Benefits for eligible grant program participants include course reduction and monetary funds for establishing a research agenda, travel support, and cohort activities across three state universities. Eligibility for grant program participation is not a prerequisite for employment consideration for this or any other position at FSU. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology or in a relevant field
- Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, inclusion and social justice in higher education
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at a faculty rank commensurate with experience and credentials. Salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CwXZuctMohjSa62ltfluIEnyon2RGPZW/view).
