Position title: Assistant Professor

Salary range: The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 3 for the salary range at UCSB. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $108,500-$133,500. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description

The Chemical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara is seeking applications as part of an external search for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

Applicants may also qualify to participate in the Benjamin Bannaker Initiative (https://diversity.ucsb.edu/initiatives-and-resources/benjamin-banneker-initiative), a new program funded by an Advancing Faculty Diversity grant from the UC Office of the President, with the goal of diversifying faculty, research, and curriculum in STEM (and related) fields.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

At a minimum, applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Applicants must have a PhD degree or equivalent in chemical engineering or a related field by time of appointment as Assistant Professor.

Preferred qualifications

Clear evidence of important intellectual contributions and vision for impactful new areas of research in chemical engineering, especially chemical process and systems engineering.
