Job Details

The School of Chemistry & Physics at Millikin University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor beginning August 2025. A Ph.D. in physical chemistry or closely related area is required. We seek candidates with a commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence who can contribute to a vibrant campus community and foster an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach lecture and lab within general chemistry, physical chemistry, and introductory physics. Candidates are expected to develop a promising undergraduate research program and actively engage in university service. The School of Chemistry & Physics is ACS approved, has five full-time faculty, modern chemical instrumentation to support undergraduate research, and has been recognized for excellence in teaching (www.millikin.edu/chemistry).

 

Millikin University is a private, comprehensive institution serving approximately 1,700 undergraduate, graduate, full-time and part-time students who study in four colleges/schools: Arts and Sciences, Business, Fine Arts, and Professional Studies. Situated on an attractive seventy-acre campus in Decatur, Illinois (population of 80,000), Millikin is located 180 miles southwest of Chicago, 150 miles west of Indianapolis, and 120 miles northeast of St. Louis.
