The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Texas (UNT) located in Denton, Texas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in analytical chemistry, to begin September 1, 2025. Applicants should have a record of peer-reviewed publications, a strong commitment to research and teaching, and compelling ideas for an independent research program in analytical chemistry, with a strong preference for research with applications in forensic science. Development of a nationally and internationally visible, externally-funded research program is expected. The new faculty member will have access to substantial research support infrastructure in the Chemistry Department, including staffed NMR, X-ray diffraction, and high-performance computing facilities; a stockroom; and a shared instrumentation laboratory that houses a suite of equipment for chromatographic, spectroscopic, mass spectrometric, gravimetric, and microscopic analysis of samples. The new faculty member will also have opportunities to teach courses and direct student projects within UNT’s FEPAC-accredited Forensic Science program, which serves undergraduate Chemistry, Biology, and Biochemistry majors. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, and a record of peer-reviewed publications in analytical chemistry.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral research experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications in the field of forensic science and/or in forensic science journals.
