The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in forensic chemistry at the assistant/associate professor rank. The start date for this position is August 1, 2025. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or an allied field, with post-doctoral experience being preferred. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and effective teacher who is expected to develop an externally funded, nationally recognized research program involving undergraduate and graduate students that contributes to the accredited interdisciplinary B.S. program in Forensic Science. This program is jointly offered by the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Criminal Justice Administration. The Forensic Institute for Research and Education (FIRE) is responsible for facilitating the integration of education, research, and community service in forensic science through partnerships and public engagement. The Department of Chemistry (www.mtsu.edu/chemistry) has 33 full-time faculty members, and offers ACS-certified degrees in Chemistry and ASBMB accredited Biochemistry, a MS degree in Chemistry, and Ph.D. degrees in three interdisciplinary science programs (Computational Science, Molecular Biosciences, and Mathematics & Science Education). The successful candidate is expected to contribute to one of these PhD programs.
