Open Rank Tenure-Track Faculty position in Organic Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida International University invites applications to fill a full-time open rank tenure-track faculty position in Organic Chemistry starting in August 2025. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, extramurally funded research program with substantial graduate and undergraduate student involvement, and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Organic Chemistry, plus additional courses in their area of specialization. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or an allied field and research experience pertinent to Organic Chemistry are required; postdoctoral experience is expected. Qualified candidates at all career stages are encouraged to apply. For applicants of a senior rank position (Associate Professor or Professor), preference will be given to those having current or forthcoming extramural research funding transferable to FIU. The ideal candidate is expected to have publications, awards/honors and to demonstrate a clear indication of how they will contribute to FIU’s Top 50 ranking.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida International University invites applications to fill a full-time open rank tenure-track faculty position in Analytical/Forensic Chemistry starting in August 2025. Applicants with expertise in all areas of Analytical/Bioanalytical and Forensic Chemistry are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates will be expected to have and maintain a strong research program and to teach Analytical Chemistry as well as core Forensic Chemistry courses. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to adapt, develop, and teach transformative courses in the broader areas of Analytical, Bioanalytical, Forensic and Environmental Chemistry. Candidates are expected to provide strong leadership and service to their department/college and institute, including mentoring of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field and research experience pertinent to Analytical/Bioanalytical or Forensic Chemistry are required; postdoctoral experience is expected. Hiring will be considered at the appropriate rank. The candidates will have departmental administration and committee duties as a full-time tenure-track faculty and is expected to have a full-time presence on campus. The successful candidates will hold a primary position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the School of Integrated Science and Humanity of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education. Tenure-track and tenured faculty are strongly encouraged to be associated with one of our centers and institutes, these include our Preeminent and Emerging Preeminent Programs: Global Forensic and Justice Center, gfjc.fiu.edu, Institute of Environment, environment.fiu.edu, or Translational Molecular Discoveries, bsi.fiu.edu. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is dedicated to ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and scholarly environment. The Department has research emphases (Ph.D. Tracks) in Forensic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Radiochemistry. The potential to form collaborations with faculty representing these areas of research emphasis will be looked on favorably.
